Foot Notes
Footnotes is our way of opening the workshop doors and sharing more of what we do. From customer stories and introductions to the team, to in-depth interviews with our suppliers and the many benefits of our shoes, this is where we reveal the process and passion behind RED Shoes.
Walks in RED: Tom Baker
For this month’s Walks in RED, we caught up with Tom Baker. Founder of Rye & Roses, devoted dad, and proud owner of a very hardworking pair of RED boots! Tom’s pastries and baked goods are legendary in the area, and many locals (including us!) start their Wednesday mornings with a coffee from Hermit Crab and a treat from Rye & Roses.
Walks in RED: Tess
For October, we’re delighted to share a very special pair of boots, custom made for Tess using beautiful leather supplied by Jane Robertson, who runs a local micro tannery. Jane’s work uses traditional tanning methods in the preservation of locally sourced hides. You can read more about our collaboration and her craft over on our blog.
Oak and Smoke Tannery
Shaped by traditional methods and a sustainable approach that values quality over quantity, we are so pleased to share a little about Jane’s story, and our ongoing collaboration.
Walks in RED: Gabi
We joined Gabi for a stroll through Gerddi Bro Ddyfi Gardens, a therapeutic wildlife-rich community garden in the Y Plas grounds, and the Edible Mach allotment, a town-wide initiative creating shared edible growing spaces. Tended collectively, nurturing both community wellbeing and the natural world.
Walks in RED: Tim
I’d been hunting for boots like this ages, long before we moved to Machynlleth in 2018. I'd had lightweight barefoot running shoes for years, but I need boots as my primary footwear, and I need them to be repairable.
